Each month you will have a one-on-one mentoring session with Tom Read. These sessions will be tailored to each individual, with the purpose of helping you to achieve your songwriting goals. This will be a chance for you to plan, set goals, receive feedback on your songs, evaluate your progress, and more. These sessions will be conducted online, unless otherwise agreed.
You will be able to participate in monthly songwriting sessions. These sessions will be held either in person (in Oxford) or online (Zoom). This will be a chance to write together with Tom and some of the other course participants. You will learn best practices for writing together and collaborating with other people.
You will have the opportunity to join a 3-day songwriting retreat with all of the course participants, as well as other Christian songwriters. Our plan is to hold this retreat in person, however if Covid restrictions do not permit then it will be held online. The cost of the retreat will be free for participants, however you will be expected to pay for your own accommodation and transportation.
Each month you will have an online seminar with guest contributors. We have pulled together a great team of industry experts that will be able to give input into various aspects of songwriting and the music industry. There will be seminars on lyrics, theology, writing songs for church, publishing, as well as a chance to have your songs heard by A&R for a major record label.
At the end of the course, you will come away with a professionally produced demo of one of your songs. You will gain an overview of the process of what it takes to put together a full demo, and will be able to use the demo to help introduce your song to your church. All demos will also be submitted to a Christian label A&R for feedback.
*For people who are not based in the UK, all of your sessions will be conducted online, and you will be able to book sessions at a time slot that suits you. You will also have access to all of the seminars online so that you can watch them on catch-up at a time that suits you.
The course will run for 6-months, and successful candidates will be required to pay 2-months up front, with the remaining balance to be paid off over 6-monthly instalments (of £67).
In order to provide quality one-on-one mentoring, spaces will be limited. Applications are now closed.
